Patricia Bernstein is available for a speaker phone discussion with any book reading group that chooses The First Waco Horror as a reading selection. She will be glad to discuss how she got the idea for the book and how she researched it, including how she tracked down and interviewed two grandsons of one of the alleged lynch mob leaders identified by the NAACP investigator in 1916.

She will also be glad, if your group wishes, to provide an overview of the lynching epidemic that swept much of the U.S. from 1880 to 1930--one of the most shocking episodes in American history. She can share ideas with you about how communities that experienced an atrocity long ago should deal with that history in the present.

One of the primary reasons she wrote the book, however, was that the Waco Horror is not just a story of an atrocity, but also an inspiring tale of heroism against great odds--the heroism of the early founders of the NAACP and of Elisabeth Freeman, the young women's suffrage activist who was asked to go to Waco and investigate the lynching.

There is no cost for the speaker phone discussion. You only need a gathering of readers and a speaker phone so everyone can hear.

You can email Patricia at patricia@patriciabernstein.com to schedule a book chat with your group. She looks forward to talking with you.
